Share market finishes flat while demand for loans increases

The Australian share market finished flat last week after retreating on Friday following losses for mining and banking stocks. Iron ore miners fell as the price of the commodity fell to a 20-month low. Figures from the Reserve Bank showed demand for loans accelerated last month. Home loans grew by 0.6 per cent in April, driven by investors, while business loans grew at half that pace. Personal loans, however, were flat. With little in the way of news at home or internationally, the Australian dollar traded within a narrow range.
