Portugal and Israel have become the latest countries to apply to become the founding members of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. China’s Ministry of Finance said Portugal officially sent its application on Tuesday, while Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signed a letter of application for Israel to join the bank.
