News Update: AIG’s Plane Leasing Unit Repays $2 Billion Government Loan

AIG’s (NYSE:AIG) plane-leasing unit, International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC), repaid the billion line it borrowed on following its credit markets access cut off in 2008, and now the formerly embattled unit is eyeing new jet purchases for the first time in three years, according to comments made by the company’s CEO Henri Courpron.

Five-year credit-default swaps on the unit have fallen to 472 bps from 836 bps at the end of 2009.
