Most of Australia’s first-home buyers in Victoria: Adelaide Bank and REIA report

MORE first-home buyers purchased in Victoria than anywhere else in the country during the September quarter, but their numbers dropped nationally and statewide from last year, a new report states. Almost a third of the first-home buyer purchases of Australian property in the three month period were in Victoria, despite Melbourne house prices increasing out of reach for many, according to the latest Adelaide Bank and Real Estate Institute of Australia Housing Affordability Report. But first-home buyer loans in the state decreased 2.1 per cent from the same period last year and 10.8 per cent from the June 2016 quarter. #398
