VO Chinese embassy awards scholarships to 32 Lao students to enable them to study at Chinese universities.
INTRO: The Chinese Embassy to Laos on Thursday awarded scholarships to 32 students at the National University of Laos (NUOL) to enable them to study at Chinese universities.
STORY: The scholarships were presented to students at the university in Vientiane by Chinese Ambassador to Laos, Guan Huabing, in the presence of NUOL President Prof. Dr Soukkongseng Saignaleuth, teachers and students.
The scholarships are part of China’s contribution to Laos towards strengthening the two countries’ relationship, to help fulfill the potential of Lao youth and accelerate socio-economic development.
The 32 students will take bachelor degrees and select a subject from a choice of diplomacy, business, commerce, marketing, engineering, health, medicine, finance, politics and related fields. The scholarships cover tuition fees, return airfares and an annual living allowance.
It is said that, China and Laos have a long-term relationship, especially in cultural and socio-economic affairs. This is the first time the embassy has provided scholarships for NUOL students and is pleased to continue supporting the development of the university as well as overall education in Laos.
