VO ADB approves a US million (more than 187 billion kip) loan to improve delivery of health services
INTRO: Asian Development Bank calls ADB has approved a US million or more than 187 billion kip loan for subprogram 1 of the Health Sector Governance Programme to improve delivery of health services, particularly for the poor, women and children.
STORY: Deputy Minister of Finance Thipphakone Chanthavongsa signed the loan agreement on behalf of the government with ADB Country Director to Laos Sandra Nicoll.
The loan programme will support the government’s Health Sector Reform Strategy 2013-2025, which aims to improve access to basic healthcare and financial protection by 2020 and achieve universal health coverage by 2025.
The loan will also support the government’s strategy to roll out a budgeting and reporting system to account for the source and application of funds at health facilities.
The ADB based in Manila, is dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth and regional integration.
