Discussion | Student Loans: Too Big to Fail?

On January 21, 2014, Stanford’s Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Center for Corporate Governance and the Stanford Center on the Legal Profession hosted the discussion “Student Loans: Too Big to Fail?”

Panelists Rohit Chopra, Mike Cagney and SLS Professor G. Marcus Cole discussed whether high levels of student debt are stifling the economic recovery, if changes should be made to the bankruptcy code so that debtors can more easily rid themselves of student loans and what the role should be for private lenders versus government-backed loans in lending to students.

The discussion was moderated by Professor Dan Siciliano.
