Debt Ceiling Deadline Looming

“Senate leaders neared the completion Monday night of a bipartisan deal to raise the debt ceiling and end the government shutdown while the rest of the world braced for the possibility of an American default that could set off a global financial disaster. Negotiators talked into the evening as senators from both parties coalesced around a plan that would lift the debt limit through Feb. 7, pass a resolution to finance the government through Jan. 15 and conclude formal discussions on a long-term tax and spending plan no later than Dec. 13, according to one Senate aide briefed on the plan. But while both Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, and Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic leader, praised the progress that was made in the Senate, it was already clear that the most conservative members of the House were not going to go along quietly with a plan that does not accomplish their goal from the outset of this two-week-old crisis: dismantling the president’s health care law…”.* What is Speaker of the House John Boehner saying? The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

  1. *Time Is Running Out*

Republicans are living in fantasy land and still won’t budge. Other
countries are already moving to reduce their investment in treasury bonds.
    It won’t be long now…

  3. *Which issue is more important to the Tea Party?*
    1. The US dollar must be the most stable, reliable currency in the entire
    world.
    2. Obamacare must be de-funded.
*It is obviously NOT number 1.*
The Tea Party would rather see America *no longer* be #1 in the
world, they think it is more important to eliminate Obamacare, their
priority is to destroy the only thing that provides any scrap of affordable
healthcare for low-income citizens. *That is their priority.* That is still
their priority even now with the very real threat of a credit default of
the entire country only 2 days away.
In fact, this whole farce has already severely damaged the
reputation of the US. Countries like the UK and China are some of the
biggest investors in our economy. Suddenly that investment is not at all
the sure-thing as it once was, and this threatens their own economies as
well. There is already very serious talk of cutting their losses and
spreading their wealth elsewhere so as to avoid this kind of disaster from
    ever happening.
The Republicans are a laughing stock, and the Tea Party is
universally hated throughout the world, and throughout most of the US save
for a small minority of people who blindly follow their ideology, still
sincerely believing that Obamacare is the same brand of National Socialism
that existed in Germany under Hitler. And economists everywhere are
wondering, “what is it about the US that they cannot keep these
psychopathic ideologues from ruining absolutely everything?”
We may be able to convince countries like the UK and China to keep
investing in our businesses, but unless they are dumb (which they
definitely are not) the first question they will ask before they even think
about investing in any US business is this: “do you guys still have those
retarded Tea Partiers in your government?” #BlameRepublicans

  4. 1)Explain to me the Fascist take over part. 2) Republicans dont want
religion or corporations to take over the country. At least the
conservative ones. The RINO’s wouldn’t mind the corporations taking over,
mainly because they only reason they are in office is because of that.

  5. 1) hate to say your wrong, but you’re wrong. The Democratic Party got 224
million while 173 million went to Republicans. Granted that isn’t
Superpacs, but I think we can figure out that the majority of that came
from corporations. 2)Not wanting to kill someone isn’t religious. It’s
common sense. And i think that you may forget that it was a Democrat that
    passed DOMA.

  6. Well, there’s a cultural shift in America. Most of this generation feel
entitled and the government wants to create dependent voters so insure
staying in power. Just look at all the entitlement programs, subsidies, and
so. Trust me, both parties do it. This isn’t gonna get fix.

  7. Please Americans don’t invade another country for natural resources once
you realize that you can’t lift the debt ceiling anymore. Regards from the
    Middle East ^_^

  8. What are you talking about? I’m not brain washed. If you cannot provide
proof for your wild claims, just don’t claim them.

  9. Estimates are just that – estimates. They get revised until the end. By the
way, you must have a strange grasp on time. A budget is passed (or a CR) in
october-november (as was seen this year), after his election the president
takes office in January. So, Obamas first budget was 3/4 of a year the last
of Bush’s. And in contrast to Bush, he put the wars into the book…

  10. Naw that’s basically what it is. Fuq the rest of the world we need to pay
our bills. No more debt. No more EXCUSES.

  11. It seems like the House Republicans are tripping over themselves to shoot
    themselves in the foot.

  12. honestly, the congress and banking sectors are getting WAY too complicated
to understand for everyone and almost every media source has become bias.
    What do we do now

  13. It’s a good thing to see that this is not accurate anymore, and Republicans
    are pretty strong :)
