ARIA WEEK || Australian music and the rise of Asia

Australia’s music industry is preparing to recognise the most popular and critically acclaimed acts of the year at tomorrow night’s ARIA Awards in Sydney.

But Australian artists are operating in a tough environment.

Emerging technologies means CD sales are down and while legal digital downloads are growing overall sales are not what they used to be.

And that means the industry will have to look at other ways to strike the right chord with one major opportunity right on our doorstep.
